Thermography

ThermographyIndustrial Electrical is proud to offer our condition monitoring department.  Let us help you save money by decreasing unwanted downtime.  Our service technicians are trained and certified by the Industry leading Flir Infrared Training Center.  We offer thermography, commonly referred to as infrared scanning.  With our infrared equipment, we can locate electrical problems that may cause downtime.

Infrared surveys are performed using a non-contact method which makes Thermography uniquely useful in a lot of different fields of industry. This non-contact method has many advantages. One advantage is being able to see a two-dimensional image that allows an excellent overview of the target area. Another benefit is we are able to measure in real time and from safe distances. This helps dramatically lower the danger for the Thermographer and company participating in the survey.

During an infrared survey faulty components may not be identified due to the components not being under a “full load and/or energized” during time of inspection. With this in mind components not under a “full load and /or energized” during inspection may not show apparent thermal anomalies, making it impossible to perform a proper survey. With this being known at time of inspection we can proficiently and effectively perform an infrared survey of your facility. Note: After repairs are made on issues found, a follow-up survey is advised.

A full facility infrared survey should be completed at least once a year. With good up keep of electrical components and a preventive maintenance plan, Thermography will help prevent in unwanted fire damage and downed production costs.

Infrared Applications:

  • Electrical Inspections-power distribution & high tension lines, substations, motor & generator control center, buss runs, generating stations and motors (windings, load splices, core temperatures.
  • Mechanical inspection- electric motors (bearing failure, overheating, poor connections, energy loss or heat causing abnormal stress) Non-destructive testing for gears, shafts, castings, welds, turbine blades, and extrusions.
  • Kiln Insulation Inspections.
  • Heat exchanger quality & efficiency evaluation.
  • Cold storage cooling loss.
  • Roof leak detection.
  • Thermal heat loss inspection for plants, buildings, facilities, & refineries.
